WVU students hold a fashion show to show off their work

MORGANTOWN, WV — As many West Virginia University students graduate beginning Friday, May 13, students in the Fashion, Apparel, and Merchandising program held a fashion show Thursday night .

The show allowed students from different levels of the program to show their work during the year.

Professional models were used for the fashion show and professional photos were taken of the clothes for students to use in their portfolios.

Two celebrities from north-central West Virginia were even in attendance: WVU President E. Gordon Gee and his fiancée, Laurie Erickson.

“Everything becomes real, like, when you put it on a body versus, like, we design them. A lot of times you design patterns, flat, or drape them over a dress form. And, to see it on a body alive and in motion, it’s really surreal,” said Colleen Moretz, associate professor of fashion, apparel and merchandising program at WVU.

Senior graduates of the program were honored at their commencement ceremony at the WVU Coliseum on Friday afternoon.
