With all kinds of cozy little nooks and little rooms with fires, this is a treasure trove of real pub history.
With great food, beers, wine and cider you’ll want to spend hours here, a former coaching inn in the heart of the Somerset countryside.
Mells, voted one of the best villages in the country, is absolutely beautiful summer and winter.
In summer, thatched cottages and houses are awash with colorful gardens and shrubs that literally take on color.
Some of the houses are the best in the country, the manor house, the large country estates, but even prettier are the little thatched roofs that line the country road as you approach the pub and village.
If you have time, take a stroll through the mansion and church, and the tithe barn is one of the nicest in the area.
As soon as you enter the Talbot Inn, your mood changes.
With exposed beams, stone floors, log fires throughout, you will instantly feel at home.
As the pub is so close to Babington House, which is part of the world famous and exclusive Soho House group, the Talbot is frequently visited by celebrities and rock stars including David Beckham, Courtney Cox (Monica from Friends), Ruby Wax, famous pop and rock fashion designers, models, artists and musicians.
Many of them depart from Babington to the Talbot Inn on courtesy retro bikes provided by Soho House, it is only a short ride and very enjoyable especially in the summer.
Some of Babington’s guests come to the Talbot, eager to taste a real English country pub.
Courtney Cox has told US TV that she enjoys spending Christmas in Frome, where they walk to a real country village with a real country pub.
She was talking about the Talbot Inn.
The drive to Mells is lovely and well worth it when you arrive at this famous country inn.
Food includes country classics as well as daily seasonal dishes.
The Talbot is good day and night, but you will need to book as it is very popular.
