#NobodyLikeWoman challenge: Simi to celebrate women in new song
Nigerian singer Simi is set to release a new song aimed at celebrating strong women – days after inspiring the #NobodyLikeWoman challenge.
The 33-year-old had recently started the trend to encourage women to open up about social issues that affect them.
The hashtag has been widely welcomed by several prominent celebrities including Tonto Dikeh, Iyabo Ojo, Temi Otedola and Khafi Kareem.
In a Instagram post, Simi said the song called “Woman” will be released at midnight on Thursday.
Crooner “Duduke” congratulated those who have supported the challenge since its inception.
She also expressed optimism that the challenge would chart a new course in the way women are treated in society.
Simi added that the new song aims to celebrate the resilience of women who have successfully defied the odds.
“In less than 12 hours, by the grace of God, my only ‘Wife’ will be with you. I’m grateful for every woman who stands aside for all of us. Your vulnerability is courage, ”she wrote.
“I hope that in the future we will pay attention to the words we speak and the seeds we plant in people’s lives. I also hope that we learn to support and protect women who are unable to do so on their own.
“Now we are celebrating women! See you at midnight… #NobodyLikeWoman. The reason many, many women are so strong today is that they have had to challenge the things that were designed to make them weak. Stereotypes. Shame. Fear. Pain. Abuse.
“I respect the strength and courage it took for many women over the past few days to be vulnerable enough to face the things people have said to them to stir up and demean their insecurities.
“Many of you have challenged the status quo and changed the narrative. You are brave. You are strong. You are a woman. And there is no one like you.
