TODAY, October 10, the late and inimitable socialite Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure would have been 37 years old.

Without a doubt, it was not going to be an ordinary Sunday.

Somehow, Ginimbi was going to oxymorically paint the city red with his famous “all white” party.

Remember, the self-styled King of Bling had a top-notch record hosting epic parties he had previously hosted in South Africa, Botswana, Dubai, and Australia, where he took his high friends. level to celebrate.

A year ago, the businessman and socialite threw an explosive party strictly by invitation.

Even the Covid-19 pandemic couldn’t stop it!

The razzmatazz-filled birthday party was graced by prominent personalities, celebrities and businessmen, and created waves on social media platforms.

Expensive champagne was popped as US dollars were casually tossed like confetti.

Unfortunately, this was to be Ginimbi’s last major event.

Rather, it turned out to be his swan song.

The effervescent socialite would die nearly a month later – on November 8 to be precise – in a horrific car crash that also claimed the lives of three other passengers in the car.

Since his untimely demise, other socialites have struggled to seize the throne.

Not that there is no activity, but the “wow” factor that characterized each event with the touch of Ginimbi is no longer there.

Man was indeed a motor of pleasure.

While browsing social networks, we inevitably come across personalities showing off their lavish lifestyle.

But whether they post pictures of their luxury cars or share videos of a party where bottles of champagne are popping, it now seems just plain ordinary.

If one has to jump into the comments section on some of the posts, the name Ginimbi still appears and the comparisons fly left, right and center. It’s no surprise that nearly a year after his death, the late Genius Kadungure is still mentioned when the rich and famous are in talks.

He seemed to have mastered and perfected the art of displaying his wealth without provoking the public.

His life could easily fit a Hollywood scenario.

From importing exotic international strippers to hosting some of the biggest parties that could be the talk of the city for days to come, her playboy vibe was just off the charts.

He often bragged about bringing international standards to the local party scene and the standards of his nightclub, Dreams, were an easy testament to that.

His popularity on social media was immense, with over 600,000 followers on Instagram, which was essentially his platform of choice.

At one point, he was hosting live competitions on his Instagram account where women from various parts of the world competed for cash prizes of up to US $ 1,000. Although there are many people who could have been richer than him, there is no doubt that in the eyes of the public, or rather in social circles, Ginimbi was the ultimate “mbinga” in the lexicon of the street.

Many wondered if we would ever find a replacement for the late businessman and socialite.

Or, simply, do we have a “new mbinga” in town?

At present, there is no straightforward answer to this question. However, some of the names that have been thrown into the fray whenever there is such talk include Chief J, Mike Chimombe, Chimpa, Scott, and Kit Kat, among other big spenders.

“It will always be difficult to fill Ginimbi’s space. The guy was just in a league of his own. We will always remember and respect him, ”said one of Ginimbi’s associates.

“It was like our pulse. We still meet, but not as often as in his day. He was a hard-working man and also a free spirit. He could easily balance the two, work and play, which is always a challenge for many. I guess that’s one of the many factors that make it unique.

While these people have money to splash around and are well known for adjusting huge tabs on outings, they aren’t as loud as their deceased counterparts.

They don’t want personal attention for reasons they know best. But some are fathers, which somehow restricts their playboy adventures or forces them to censor their actions.

In addition, they fear that an extravagant lifestyle may attract the attention of the authorities unnecessarily. The Passion Java prophet, who regularly traded blows with Ginimbi on social media as they fought for “supremacy”, could easily have filled the void if he was “about this life.”

Although he doesn’t hesitate to show off his wealth, his relationship with the church limits him.

There’s little to no chance people would see him drinking champagne or partying with strippers, which was a staple in Ginimbi’s life. The list of big spenders with fancy lifestyles is endless, but these guys just aren’t on the same level of “crazy” he is.

The flamboyant businessman Phillip Chiyangwa, who inspired Ginimbi in many ways, is another character who could make a splash on social media.

However, age and his business and political portfolios seem to be holding him back.

Others are ready, but unable to fill the void.

The late Ginimbi joked, “They’re missing something,” referring to cash.

There are personalities based outside the country who have even been accused of renting luxury cars just to pretend they are living big.

Someone even shared a video showcasing a fleet of premium vehicles while claiming it was in their garage, but it later turned out that it was actually in a car dealership showroom. .

In fact, these so-called “fake mbingas” have flooded social media. Now it’s hard to believe most of the guys because they sell us models.

For now, we’re just waiting to see if we’ll have someone with the bold personality, opulence, and hilarity who can match or even surpass Ginimbi’s character.
