WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Avengers # 47, on sale now from Marvel.

With one of the Avengers kidnapped straight from the team headquarters at Avengers Mountain, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes won’t rest until they collect their captured comrade and settle the score. In order to execute this polar rescue mission, veteran Avengers and their longtime teammates Captain America and Iron Man took the opportunity to release new superhero costumes that give them both an advantage over the Rival team of Russian superheroes the Winter Guard as they launch a daring infiltration to free She-Hulk from imprisonment in the Red Room, deep in the frozen Siberian tundra.

As She-Hulk is subjected to tortured mental and physical conditioning in the Red Room to transform her into the ultimate weapon to be turned against the Avengers by the Winter Guard, Captain America and Iron Man make their covert attack, with their white suits austere mingling with the snowy terrain and catching the soldiers stationed at the front door of the completely oblivious Red Room bunker. After sending out the first wave of enemies without alerting the Winter Guard, the two Avengers suits quickly adapt and change as they approach the locked entrance to accommodate the next stage of the raid as the action takes place Avengers # 47 – by Jason Aaron, Javier Garron, David Curiel and Cory Petit of VC – is stepping up.

Now featuring a more technological display, with visible circuitry and a more metallic layout, Iron Man is able to interface seamlessly with door controls to open it without triggering the alarm. Once inside, the costumes of the two Avengers visibly change again, this time taking on darker colors and hues allowing the heroes to blend in with the shadows as they navigate the dark corridors of the bunker. With diplomatic relations between the Avengers and Russia strained more than ever, their goal is to learn where She-Hulk is being held and extract her without triggering a response from the Winter Guard that could potentially trigger all-out war.

One of the more intriguing details about the costumes is that they appear to be powered by nanotechnology, with the costume naturally pulling apart to expose Steve Rogers’ head rather than physically lowering his starry hood. It also allows the costumes to seamlessly pass through various organic camouflage states on the fly and match the electronic interface of the Red Room security system as the two heroes enter the bunker. Stylistically, this matches the Iron Man, Black Panther, and Spider-Man’s Iron Spider armor used in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, able to coat their body in seconds and unmask themselves on command.

It’s unclear if Iron Man or Black Panther provided the nanotechnology costume upgrades to the Avengers and if anyone else on the list received the impressive sartorial changes, but Steve Rogers and Tony Stark have already. used these costumes wisely against Winter Guard and Red Piece.

While the two heroes may have finally arrived too late to save She-Hulk from the machinations of the Red Room, these new costumes could have even more tricks up their sleeve as the Avengers set off in search of their missing friend. .
